Couples Therapy
Keeping connected when life gets complicated
Everyone knows that relationships require work. It takes time to learn how to communicate with our partners, to determine how much we should compromise and how much we should remain true to ourselves. In the meantime, stuff happens—both good and not so good—that can have a lasting impact on the relationship.
Couples therapy offers a space for both partners to take an honest look at themselves, each other, and the issues that come up in the relationship. They explore of how they communicate, and what they have come to expect from each other and the world.
Couples emerge from therapy with a better understanding of themselves and each other, and a common understanding of the problematic cycles that got in the way of a deeper, more secure connection in their relationship. They learn to communicate using a common language leading to confidence and success when working through issues that arise in the future.
Couples therapy uses and Emotion Focused Therapy approach. Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes and range in frequency and duration. Individual sessions may be a part of your therapy and are offered within the first few sessions.
